I tighten them with an impact wrench. I can get an incredible amount of even pressure this way.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ectocontent\">\n<p>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/impact1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" alt=\"impact.jpg\" class=\"blog-flex\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the glue dries, it&#8217;s over to the joiner to clean up one of the edges.<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/jointer1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" alt=\"jointer.jpg\" class=\"blog-flex\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then it&#8217;s over to the table saw to make the corresponding edge parallel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"blog-flex\" alt=\"tablesaw.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/tablesaw.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The components are now made, so I can begin to focus on the composition. Pencil lines, band saw cuts, and double stick tape help me at this stage to quickly refine the direction f the piece.<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/refine-composition1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" alt=\"refine composition.jpg\" class=\"blog-flex\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I use hand tools to facet the piece to really complete the composition. A thorough sanding and it&#8217;s time to sign the piece.<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/block-plane1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" alt=\"block plane.jpg\" class=\"blog-flex\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space: pre;\">I<\/span> sand all of the parts. The reward is that i now get to sign the piece!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"blog-flex\" alt=\"signature.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/signature.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I spray a clear, water-based lacquer on top of a very thin coat of oil, which I use to give the walnut such a perfect color.<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/spray1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" alt=\"spray.jpg\" class=\"blog-flex\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I use the reflection to make sure that I have a perfectly even coat of finish on the piece.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"blog-flex\" alt=\"reflection.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/nicoyektai.com\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/reflection.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I mix some artist&#8217;s oil paint into my gel polyurethane, and I brush it onto the ash pieces.
