I set out to design a corner table based on the combination of cherry and cast concrete. The piece evolved into a sculptural expression that can still be used for a small object or arrangement of flowers. The composition was in need of one more element. It turned out to be Ash that I dyed with artist oil paint. The Ash now played against the cherry with a rhythm that merged with the concrete when the two met in the front of the piece. Despite the location in the home that the pieces name suggests I think this piece is best placed a foot off a wall and not quite in the corner so the interplay of the ash, concrete and cherry can be digested in one glance.
