Pinch
Sapele, Cast Concrete 28"H x 20"W x 11"D

Small Abstract Sculpture

Pinch represents the beginning of a new exploration in my body of work. The starting point for this free form sculpture is the craftsmanship and affection for material that is at the core of my functional work. The ability that I have developed and the unique vocabulary allow me to explore the relationship between components and materials in a new way. The two curves exist to relate to one-another and create a dialogue that engages the viewer. The piece gets its name from the impression that is created by the wood to concrete transition. It is as if the concrete has been “pinched”.
