The diminutive size of this small modern bench is the reason that I have not included it in either numbered series. That said the approach to the composition is no less original or bold than any of the other benches that came before it. The hope was to create a successful composition in a small package. Now that I have been introduced to the unique concerns of working to a smaller scale I could see developing a number of small benches. This is how the numbered series are born- from a challenging subject with a unique set of needs.
